THE BAND
DRUMS, ELEC. PERCUSSION
GORD OLIVER
Gord grew up in St Catharines Ontario and was exposed to all the great classic rock bands on the local radio air waves, as well as listening to his father's record collection. At the age of 12, Gord wanted to play drums, but didn't have the means. Around grade 7 or 8, Gord was trading albums with a friend and received the Rush album Signals and was an instant fan of the band. Listening to Neil Peart also refuelled his interest in drums, and in 1993 at the age of 22 Gord bought his first 9-piece drum kit, and started practicing diligently and eventually joined his first cover band. In 1994, Gord moved to London Ontario and joined a Black Sabbath tribute band.
While working in steel shops and riding motorcycles on the local trails, he was also playing and filling in with other local cover bands, and in 2000 Gord formed his first Rush tribute band, "Show of Hands". This band played a few bars around London and area for about a year, but played its last show in St. Catharines when the singer/guitarist decided to move to Nova Scotia. Gord continued playing in local cover bands including Planet Express and the Smash Tones, as well as recording a demo for the band Zealots Desire. In 2021, Gord was feeling restless and bored due to the COVID pandemic, so he posted an ad looking for a bass player and guitar player for a new Rush tribute band, and after Andy and Sean joined, Time Machine was born. Gord spends his spare time riding his motorcycles and searching for deals on FB Marketplace for new drum hardware!
GUITARS, BASS PEDALS
SEAN MCRAE
Sean received his very first guitar from his uncle as a gift for his eight birthday. His guitar teacher, being a Rush fan, would teach Sean a new Rush riff anytime he answered, “I don’t know” to the inevitable question every music teacher asks “so what do you want to learn today?” Everything changed for Sean when he received a Rush Gold (greatest hits) CD from his parents for Christmas in 2013. From then on, he was hooked.
Sean dove headfirst into the Rush catalogue and bought the Rush: Time Machine 2011 – Live in Cleveland tour DVD, and studied the band closely. Inspired by his hero Alex Lifeson, Sean set his sights on owning a Tobacco Sunburst Gibson ES-335 and after saving his summer job money through high school, Sean purchased his dream guitar in 2016. Sean spent the rest of high school playing guitar in the school jazz band while seeking out opportunities to jam with friends. Sean played a few local shows including a battle of the high school bands in 2016 with his group Fill the Void (and later Zelus), and years later formed Hÿde Park in 2021. With Hÿde Park, Sean refined his playing style and fell in love with playing live, often pulling out “Limelight” as a show closer for their sets.
Fast forward to May 2022, Sean came across an ad from a Rush Tribute band looking for their Lerxst. Sean, already owning most of the necessary Rush-related gear and knowing how to play most of the tunes, decided to audition on a whim. Sean, Andy, and Gord jammed for the first time a week later and the rest is Time Machine history!

bass, synthesizers, vocals
andy skuse
Andy started playing guitar at the age of 16 in 1980. Around this same time a lot of rock bands were adding synthesizers to their sound, and Andy was inspired by bands like Rush and Saga to start exploring synthesizers. Andy eagerly joined the home recording revolution of the 80’s which led to playing bass on his song ideas, but he didn’t get serous about playing bass until 2000 when he joined a couple of friends in his first Rush band "My Weekly Crime", to jam on some Rush tunes. The next 7 years were spent wood-shedding Rush songs on the bass and keyboards to someday play live shows. Around 2012 Andy joined a Rush tribute band called "The Priests of Syrinx". The Priests played a few local gigs and jams around London over the next few years.
In 2021, Andy answered an ad for a Geddy for a new Rush tribute band with drummer Gord Oliver to play gigs around Southwestern Ontario. Perseverance paid off in June 2022 when Andy and Gord put up an ad for their Lerxst, and Sean McRae answered the call to complete the 3-piece lineup for Time Machine. Andy enjoys spending his spare time in his home studio creating sample loops and "patch-chasing" to attempt to reverse-engineer the synthesizer sounds of Rush.
